Well first of all all oem tanks are baffled.
Fuel cell foam or no foam.
However it plays two very important roles.
My fule cell is rci i think but the new foam is fuel safe we allready took out the protectie sock from the pick up line and also run a filter before the back up pump and one after w e usually drain the cell after every race ill be opening it up next week ill let you guys know what the problem is maybe the new foam is letting a lot of residue in the pick up line.
I ran that cell from 1989 2000 without any signs of the foam breaking down.
The function most people know is that the foam keeps fuel from sloshing around in the turns.
I have no experience with fuel cells but i would imagine for a street car you would absolutely need the foam.
Full foam fuel safe circle track cell.
The foam is still in good condition and doesn t show signs of breaking down afer 8 years.
The foam takes up a small volume of the fuel cell so it doesn t change the capacity of the fuel cell by very much.
When i redid the car in 2000 i bought a summit drag cell also full foam.
I have always had the foam in my fuel cells because i run it on the street too but with all the trouble i m having i m looking to eliminate any potential problems.
Some fuels will also do this if you let it sit to long in the cell.
Otherwise you would literally have fuel flowing out the filler neck on a turn.
