The manufacturer recommends 3 4 gap at walls. Hardwood gaps are generally caused by one of a few installation errors. Choose a wood putty that is similar in color to the floor boards. Leave the rope in the stain for a minute and then lay them out on newspapers overnight to. Apply a fine bead of wood putty to the gap then work it into the gap with your finger using circular motions to force the putty down into the gap. Gaps in wood floors are normal and occur when the wood loses its moisture content.

Put wood filler onto your putty knife and then push the filler into the gap. Remove excess putty from the wood surface using a putty knife.
