Garage Door Malfunction Closing

If the garage door opens correctly but fails to close completely there may be one of three common causes.

The symptom of this is a garage door that is in constant motion opening fully then immediately descending only to start the same cycle again.

This is almost always the result of a dirty or obstructed safety feature.

As these wires short against the housing the electrical impulse causes the door opener to activate. This precaution ensures that the door doesn t close when your car is in the doorway. In general garage door sensors block the door from closing if there is an object nearby. The same mechanism kicks in when other objects are placed near the door too.

The close limit switch may need adjusting.
